Spiritual GPS (July 8 / Proverbs 8)
Submitted by PastorWhit on Wed, 2009-07-08 21:59In the late 90’s, while I was attending seminary in Orlando, a friend came to visit and he rented a car that had a GPS device. By today’s standards, it was a dinosaur. It was bulky and looked really weird in the front seat of the car. But back then, it was the latest thing and it was really cool. You could type in your destination and a nice sounding British lady would give you turn by turn directions. We decided to test her and purposely took a wrong turn. She patiently but persistently told us what to do until we were back on the right road headed for our destination.

Are there any good shortcuts? (July 6- Proverbs 6)
Submitted by PastorWhit on Mon, 2009-07-06 23:24There is something exhilarating about finding a good shortcut. Whether its a shortcut on your commute to work or on your computer keyboard, we love to find them because we can save a lot of time and effort with a good shortcut. The best thing about a shortcut is that you feel like you are getting something for nothing. And according to Proverbs 6, that’s the problem with most shortcuts in life. Let’s take a look.

July 2 / Proverbs 2
Submitted by PastorWhit on Thu, 2009-07-02 10:04“For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” Proverbs 2:6
Proverbs 2 begins with a series of conditional statements. IF you accept his words and store up his commands, turn your ears and apply your heart to understanding, look for it (wisdom) and search for it as for hidden treasure, THEN you will understand the fear of the Lord (the starting place of a wise life according to chapter 1) and you will ‘find’ the knowledge of God. Verse 6 then tells us that the Lord gives knowledge, wisdom and understanding.

Welcome to Whit’s World of Blogging
Submitted by PastorWhit on Thu, 2009-07-02 09:50I am excited about entering the world of blogging for the next thirty one days as we journey through the thirty one chapters of Proverbs together. I have to confess that this will be my first attempt at blogging. Hopefully, I will have something worthwhile to say. Fortunately, we are going through a book of the Bible that is filled with practical wisdom that is intensely relevant to our lives today.
