What Kind of Church Are We?

About Us

We are a ‘Christ-centered’ church.

We are a diverse group of people who come from different backgrounds and are at different stages of life. Yet, we all share a common love, gratitude and commitment to our savior, Jesus Christ. We recognize that the Gospel is more than forgiveness, it is total redemption from a life of sin and death. Like John Newton in his great hymn, ‘Amazing Grace,’ we were lost but have now been found, we were blind but now we see. This DNA of gratitude results in vibrant ‘Christ-centered’ worship and a community wide commitment to grow spiritually and bring glory to Christ in our daily lives.

With respect to worship style, we are an Ancient-Future church.

What does that mean exactly? It means that our worship style is a reflection of both our ancient Christian heritage and the modern church culture. We want to draw upon the ancient creeds and confessions while at the same time recognizing that God is working in Christian artists and musicians today. The result is a rich, historical worship style that pleases the Lord and engages modern people. More information on how we worship is available here.

Our History in Georgetown

We started with a small group Bible study in September of 2008 at the RunTex store in downtown Georgetown. Our group grew and we took the next step of establishing a Sunday evening worship service beginning in April 2009. In September 2009 we moved to the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce Building. We added a Christian Education hour in the fall of 2011. On March 25, 2012 we became an organized church within the Presbyterian Church in America. In January 2013 we moved to our current worship location, Mitchell Elementary School.

What to expect at Christ Presbyterian Church?

+ Worship that is Christ-centered and engaging.
+ Biblical preaching that speaks to mind and heart.
+ Church community that is authentic, relational, and missional.
+ Extending the love of Christ in the community through service.

We are a Presbyterian church.

We are affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), a relatively new and more conservative presbyterian denomination. The PCA is known for:

  • Focusing on the Gospel of Jesus Christ as the only pathway to life change.
  • Biblically sound teaching that is faithful to the inerrant word of God.
  • It’s commitment to local and international missions.

Our denominational affiliation not only provides resources and networking opportunities worldwide, it also provides accountability that extends beyond our particular church.
